Holding On by JessicaStarrPhoto Holding On by JessicaStarrPhoto
This picture is of my grandfather. The strongest man I know. He fights for his life on a daily basis, living with Stage 3 Lung Cancer, a pace-maker, Diabetes, and many more health problems. He also beat Prostate cancer. But, through it all he is holding on. And that is all that matters.

The atmosphere on display in this picture is a heavy one, but one of strength. It says that no matter how tough life can get, no matter what it sends your way, all you have to do is hang on. Just believe in tomorrow and trust in the future. There is more than just the obvious message in this picture. As someone who has seen this in the form of an aunt and my best friend's father, and having lost my grandfather, this is a very personal photograph, and one that is very well done.
To bring up emotions with photography is the gift of a true artist, and a gift that you possess.

It's a simple, but yet a really strong photo. Using a clean background to create a good focus on the main target in the photo and white bottles for all the tablets gives us a feeling of being alone and also makes us aware of the situation. Using these techniques you defintly managed to bring the message through to me, how these things can destroy your body and/or how someone have to live on these things if they are having difficulties. All these bring together a good result, and I am quite impressed with this photograph! Good job with this artwork!

This actually brought tears to my eyes. I know what this is like, and it isn't fun. But holding on is the hardest thing a person can do, so your grandfather is very strong. Best of luck to him and your family. Hang in there, girl.

This image just encapsulates "a picture says a thousand words".the medication, the X-ray the oxygen...it shows how hard he fights, and inspires compassion and awe.

Best wishes to him, and your family as you go on this journey.

The amount of emotion and pain that you've captured in this photo is astonishing. It really breaks my heart to see all the containers of pills and the pacemaker, but your grandfather looks so determined. I wish him the best

This is a very moving photograph, so much character and such resolve evident in his face, having him hold his x-ray in front of his chest was very clever, really a great piece, I wish him much health and recovery.

This photo is really touching, I feel so many emotions right know... Especially about the pacemaker, cause I have one too and I know how hard it is to live with it, because I'm almost 17 and I already have it for 1 year...
I hope your grandfather will be still strong and that he will live on this planet for many years :)

Draw a box around his eyes. Blank out everything else and just look at the eyes.

Those are the eyes of a fighter. Not just for him, but for family and friends and everyone else who has shares his life. Can't help but respect that.
